The
New York City AIDS Housing Network (NYCAHN) is a membership organization
comprised and led by low-income people living with HIV/AIDS working
in a unique coalition with nonprofit housing providers and AIDS
service organizations.
Given
that housing is a human right, it is our mission to empower low-income
people living with HIV/AIDS to organize our community, including
the non-profits that serve us, to advocate for more housing, better
housing and sound public policies for all people living with HIV/AIDS.

In
the belief that real social change will not come about unless
those who are most disenfranchised
and the most directly impacted by public
policies
are the ones that take action, we engage in community organizing,
direct action organizing, advocacy, popular education and participatory
research.
Given
that we actively seek to build the power of the our community,
we encourage you to get involved. For more information,
contact us.
We
are committed to participatory democracy guided by the following
principles which all of our members strive to embrace:
- creating
a world that respects the human rights of all people.
- respect,
dignity and equality for everyone, regardless of HIV status,
substance use or criminal justice history, immigration status,
ability, age, culture, gender, or sexual orientation.
- strengthening
the power of our community.
- building
a just society where there is equal economic, social, and political
opportunity for all.
- working
collectively and in coalition with all who share our principles
in a non-judgmental manner.
- celebrating
the power of our diversity and our community.
- supporting
NYCAHN endorsed actions in every way, including committing to
attending at least 2 visibility actions per year.
